It's a really good summer movie that happens to be Star Trek. As opposed to past movies, which were basically Star Trek, now in movie form. Which frequently didn't work out that great. Still, ST2009 sometimes didn't seem quite Star Trek-y enough.
Overall, though: well cast, reasonably well plotted, recognizable but unobtrusive callbacks to the original series. I hope this leads to further good stuff.
